Persuasion

If Persuasion was a "House Hunters" Episode...

Sir Walter Elliot is a family man. He has two daughters living at home, and recently decided to downsize. But in the sophisticated area of England that he wants to live, will he be able to find a house on his modest budget?

House 1:

First up, Sir Walter sees a great house in London. The listing agent shows him a house with 14 bedrooms, two kitchens, and two ballrooms:

Unfortunately, the house is over-budget, and will not allow Sir Walter to retrench his expenses enough to suit his new lifestyle, and it is very far from his childhood home of Kellynch Hall.

Coming up: Sir Walter sees a house in a historic spa town, but will he find what he sees refreshing?

House 2:

Next up is a house in a recently remodeled area of Bath. It's very fashionable, but the neighbors might pose a problem.

Sir Walter really does not like the layout of the kitchen, and the house has only 5 bedrooms. However, the neighborhood is increasingly popular with important people, and he too can be important at relatively little expense.

Coming up: the last house is in the country that Sir Walter loves, but will he love the size his new budget will buy him?

House 3:

This last house is in the English countryside, where Sir Walter would prefer to stay. It is large with plenty of bedrooms, but the lack of a ballroom is a problem. There are also very few mirrors, which Sir Walter has described as a "dealbreaker." However, he would be able to see his old home from the top of a nearby hill.

So which one did he choose?

House 2! It is a change which must do both health and spirits good, and the smaller size of the house will be perfect for Sir Walter, Miss Elizabeth, and her good friend Mrs. Clay.

Jane Eyre

If Jane Eyre was a "House Hunters" Episode...

A substantial house, recently vacated. Minor fire damage but tons of "character." Attic has been known to have some issues.

Currently priced £45 million -- a fixer-upper bargain!
